Retirement Plus helps brokers focus their equity release efforts by sharing the results of two major retail referral campaigns
Speaking at today’s Mortgage Business Expo; in Manchester Duncan Young, CEO of Retirement Plus, provided brokers with some important insights gathered from the results of the joint broker referral campaigns Retirement Plus is running with SPAR and United Co-operatives.
He said: “Retirement Plus is partnering two major retailers together with two specialist ‘whole of market’ brokers. The strategy behind this partnership is to bring equity release into the mainstream public arena; to educate the public about the options available, and to engender trust in SHIP members’ equity release products.
“We want to share our findings from these retail campaigns with the larger broker community, to help them avoid waste and to focus on the things that have worked well for our partnering brokers involved in these campaigns. Our only objective in this is to see the market grow and to encourage new players into it.”
Retirement Plus is the first equity release provider to embark on joint ventures with a major retailer in order to educate people on equity release and to inform the public of the importance of seeking independent, impartial financial advice.

About Retirement Plus
Retirement Plus is a Milton Homes company. The Retirement Plus Property Plan is a home reversion plan which allows UK residents aged 65 or older to receive full market value for a share of their property at the start of the plan, in return for which they grant Retirement Plus an option to acquire an increasing beneficial share in the property over the life of the Plan. Significantly, this product means the owner can release their share of the property over time, rather than giving up the full amount at inception (as is the case with a standard home reversion). The homeowner can also elect to retain a “protected share” of the property.
Retirement Plus is authorised and regulated by the FSA and is a member of SHIP, the body which is dedicated entirely to the protection of planholders and to the promotion of safe home income and equity release plans. Retirement Plus only accepts business from customers who have received advice from brokers registered with the Financial Services Authority.
